Ok, so this morning while I was preparing my gifts to be wrapped I had the TV on and a story on Good Morning America caught my attention on store hours - here is a blurb from the story:
"All this means that the next few days leading up to Christmas will be crucial for retailers. Beginning Friday, Macy's will be keeping many of its stores open all night. Toys 'R Us is also extending hours and will stay open through midnight Christmas Eve. "
REALLY? What has happened to us? Does time with family really not mean anything any more? Why would Toys R Us have to be open until midnight Christmas Eve? In my opinion those stores that stay open that late or were open on Thanksgiving are missing what these holidays really mean - family! Now, you may say --- what the heck you work for a retailer - this is true but our LOCALLY owned store values their employees enough to realize that business is business but time for family during the holidays is essential for balance in our lives.
To say the least I am on my soap box - but when will retailers realize the breakdown of the family unit may really be the reason their sales are off.
If you care to go to the story I have attached the link below:

Finally, I have two wishes for our readers - first - May the time you spend with your family be blessed with loving memories! And second, I hope that the big box retailers realize the meaning of the holidays is about family.
Thank you for supporting our store!
