  Marley

I just want to share with you all about my past weekend.  It was memorable.  I didn't go away, I didn't go out for a great dinner, or spend time with my dear friends.

My daughter Brooke went to Chicago for her first weekend away from her one year old daughter Marley,   I watched the baby for the weekend.  It was wonderful.  We played on the floor,  she feed the dog everything she decided she didn't like,  we read books and we snuggled in the morning in bed and watched cartoons!  It was just the best,  unconditional love.. period.

  Four year anniversary

This week marks my four years with Faye's.  I can't believe it!  I have met so many wonderful people over the years.  I have  laughed and cried with my co workers and with countless  customers. The dressing rooms have taken place of a therapist office on occasion.  My beautiful granddaughter Marley was born and my beloved mother has passed.  Every step of the way "my peeps" have been there for me.  I want to thank all of you for your kindness and letting me be a part of your lives.

  Beating those winter blues

Now that the holidays are over, the decorations are put away and the bills are pouring in,  I thought I would  google "How the beat the winter blues."  Here is what they "experts" advise.

1.  Exercise,  boy will that put a smile on my face!  Just thinking of what to wear to the gym exhausts me..

2. Eat a healthy diet,  On those cold winter nights a salad sure beats a warm bowl of pasta.   Which brings me back to #1.

3. Take a warm weather vacation.  Enough said.

4. If you can't afford a warm weather vacation,  take a virtual vacation on your computer.  Maybe with that bowl of pasta?

5. This is a great one while living in  Wisconsin.  Embrace the season.  Take up snow boarding, hockey or
sledding.  As a 54 year old woman that falls on the ice going from her home to the garage, think not.

6.  Finally found one!  Catch some Z'zzz's.  Now if only I could sleep past 3am,  that would be fabulous!

  Milwaukee vs. Chicago shopping

It's always a pleasure to help new customers that truly want my help. Yesterday I had the pleasure of working with one of those lovely ladies.  The best thing about it was she had explained she spent 2 days in Chicago and came home empty handed.  She was pretty discouraged! We pulled jeans, leggings and sweaters, we experimented with layering tee's and she was thrilled...and I was as well.  She left here with 3 new cashmere sweaters, leggings and that black layering tee that I think will be her new "go to".  Those days make my job fun, and it just proves that there are lots of great clothes in your own back yard!

  Wearing Winter White

If you're looking for a fresh way to brighten up those blacks, navy and grey clothes you have hanging in your closet, consider winter white. It brightens up any look and winter white is attractive on any skin tone.

Just a few rules:

Choose off white, ivory and cream tones.

Fabrics are really important. Knits, corduroys, leathers, and thick cottons.

Toughen up a white outfit with boots, knit hats or a scarf.

Faux fur is a great way to rock this look as well.

A white dress is a great piece- wear it with grey tights, and ankle boots.

Invest in a basic cable knit sweater. Pair it with skinny jeans- layer with long t shirts or long shirts and wear with leggings and boots...consider combat fur lined boots for a urban look.

The challenge is on ladies...I'm posting my winter white look.  Take your picture and lets see your challenge! Post it to our facebook page facebook.com/shopfayes

  Old Gringo boots

I am so excited our fabulous buyers have brought Old Gringo Cowboy boots into our stores. They simply aren't your "run of the mill" boots.  They're hand crafted, and just simply comfortable.  I have had many  long term relationships with my cowboy boots. I have one pair that have taken me through travels, relationships (good and bad), In fact,  most of  my favorite memories my boots have been one with me.  There is even a website on FB titled,  " I LOVE MY COWBOY BOOTS". One girl on the site said it perfectly, "Having a bad day?  Just slip on your cowboy boots and everything is Magically better!"  A good pair of cowboy boots are an investment ladies,  not only in your fashion sense but as a new best friend that you'll always go to!

  GA GA over Gaga

I first want to apologize to Lady Gaga for judging you,  with  that said I will continue.

I must admit the first time I saw Lady Gaga  I thought to myself , "Who is this crazy rip off of Madonna?  Judging, I have learned is not a good quality.  I have come to respect her greatly and now with a sense of awe.  Watching her performances on American Idol this season was incredible!  She is an amazing performer and an artist in every definition of the word.  Her style while a bit bizarre reminds me of shades of the late and great Alexander Mcqueen.

I have come to learn of her involvement in charities, which include, Stand Up to Cancer, Alzheimer Association ,  Robin Hood Association for N.Y. for  under privileged youth.  She has even designed a bracelet for raising money for Japan's recent earthquake.

With this apology in order, Gaga you are my favorite Lady.  Power to all of the strong women of our world!

Fashion 411: Anyone can wear a Maxi dress

Anyone can wear a maxi dress, all ages, all heights.

- Petites, wear a solid column of color it will elongate.  Wear a long necklace and pair with a great wedge shoe.

- On a taller girl a fun print or a color block is fun.  A belted waist can accentuate your curves.

-Smaller busted gals are best with halters and the larger busted girls a tank looks terrific.

-Last of all ladies, remember day into night!  Daytime wear with wedges, flip flops, jean jackets and bohemian inspired jewelry is fun. After 6 switch to a strappy sandal and pashmina.
